Leinster Juvenile Cross Country Championship, Ferbane, 09-Nov-2019

The Juvenile uneven ages Leinster Cross Country championships were held in Ferbane, Co Offaly. The course was hilly and muddy, additionally the weather was cold and windy. All in all it was incredibly testing and all United Striders athletes performed out of their skins. The day began with Maitiu Wall and Cormac Delaney running very well in the BU11 race, part of the Wexford squad who finished 5th.  Heather Costello was our sole representative in the GU13 event, finishing well inside the top half of a big field and on the Wexford team that finished 8th. Ronan Shannon was first Strider home in the BU13 race, ahead of Olann Delaney and Eoin Hannon, all helping Wexford finish 8th in the county event.

Next up were the U15 girls with Aoife Lyng and Isabel Bawden braving the cold to finish well. The U15 boys ran out of their skins, winning Gold in both the Club and County team events, for Wexford and the Striders respectively. Myles Hewlett put in another impressive performance to finish 2nd and Eoin Shannon, in 6th place, also picked up an individual medal. Will Park, Finn Kelly, Sean Lennon and Aidan Kehoe completed our gold medal team. The U17 boys followed with brilliant performances winning County Gold for Wexford and Team Silver for Striders, in the team events. Aidan Shannon picked up an individual medal, finishing 9th place and the remainder of the team, Ben Wall, Darragh Flannelly and Robert Wall all finished well inside the top twenty. Erinn Shannon completed her U17 race in a very impressive 21st place. Rebecca Bawden finished well in the U19 girls race to conclude the juvenile race day. Many congratulations to all athletes who competed today.
