After a competitive day at the National Masters Indoors in Athlone, the senior squad brought home an impressive total of 4 National medals.
John McGrath – National Champion 1500m in 4 mins 32
Gavin Kelly – 400m 2nd and Long Jump 3rd
Sonya Byrne – 400m 3rd
What a day and what a collection of National medals! These guys never give up, and always come home with the rewards. Sonya missed the recent Leinsters due to the flu so yesterday’s medal was even more rewarding. Our Combined Events National medallist Gavin Kelly continues to excel at his sprinting and technical events. John also ran one of the highlights of the day in the 800m O45 but was 4th and pipped on the line, a tough race which was won by 1986 Olympian Shane Healy. Yet another race to add to the impressive list, plus National Champion! Well done again to all. Medals to be treasured.
