Massive well done to Aaron Brown today at Leinster Indoors. Silver medal in Boys u15 800m in 2,14 What a great performance qualifying out of your heat and running a final within a couple of hours. This is only a glimpse of what you are capable of. A great year beckons. Also a fantastic run for Cian Flannagan who came 6th in the same event. Super running from one of the most dedicated runners in our club and definitely one of the most improved. Great stuff.
Hard luck story of the day goes to Adam O’Connor. Tripped and fell in the final of the Boys u14 800m and still came 7th. Ciara Kelly equalled her PB in the High Jump to win a fantastic Leinster Bronze. Continue reading

The Striders Juveniles just can’t stop winning medals at the moment and even though competing at National level, today was no different, with a number of team and individual medals coming back home.
Big fields, lots of mud and a high level of competition was the order of the day. First up were our U11 Girls, who got us off to a great start. As always in these big races, Leona Berry got a quick start and was very strong all the way to the line. A top ten finish was good enough for Leona to win our first individual medal of the day. The Striders Juveniles had another great day out, at provincial level, fielding five teams and winning three medals. Well done to the Gold medal winning BU14 team, Aidan Shannon, Darragh Flannelly, Adam O’Connor & Owen Lennon. Our BU12 team Myles Hewlett, Cosmo Hewlett, Finn Kelly & Eoin Shannon, won Silver. Well done to the Juvenile United Striders who won the Wexford Winter League for an unprecedented third year in a row. Leading after three rounds, we needed lots of big performances, in Enniscorthy, to ensure that the trophy returned Barrowside. As the afternoon unfolded, it became clear that the Striders, with sixty or so athletes competing, were looking good to retain the trophy. Winners on the day were Rebecca Bawden, Ciara Kelly, Elaina Browne, Myles Hewlett, Aidan Shannon, Adam O’Connor and Aaron Browne. Well done to the 10 senior Striders who competed at Coolgreany, on a tough undulating course, for county masters honours. Lettie Roche and Sinead McCarthy, were excellent in the Ladies event. In the Men’s event, the Striders squad of John McGrath, Pat O’Callaghan, Matt Flannelly, Ted Flannelly, Emmett Malone, John Kent, Mick O’Gorman and Martin Kehoe took and excellent Bronze in the team event. The Juvenile Striders started the year in great form, with 8 teams in action, at the county cross country relay championships, at Coolgreany. Congratulations to the hosting club Croghan, who put on a great show, in the winter sunshine.
