Wexford Juvenile Track & Field Championships, Day 1, Enniscorthy, 07-May-2017

Another good day for the Striders with lots of participation in the Enniscorthy sunshine. Sean O’Brien was outstanding coming second in the Turbo Javelin, first in the 100m and 500m. Sam Myers collected two bronze medals (100m & Long Jump) as did Oisin McEochaidh (100m & Javelin), Rebecca Bawden (1,500m and Sprint Hurdles) and Erinn Shannon (1,500m & Shot Putt). More success in the field events for Owen Lennon, first in the Long Jump and Cosmo Hewlett, first in the Shot Putt.

The Striders struck gold in the middle distance events, with Aidan Shannon, Adam O’Connor, Aaron Browne and Aedan Rogers all winning their 1,500m events. Grace Costello, Darragh Flannelly and Cian Flanagan also won silver medals in the 1,500m events.
Finally the Striders finished on a high in the relays :

BU11 Gold – Olan Delaney, Sean O’Brien, Sam Myers & Ronan Shannon
BU13 Silver – Caolan Costello, Myles Hewlett, Cosmo Hewlett & Eoin Shannon
GU15 Bronze – Ciara Murphy, Louise Doyle, Eve Byrne & Erinn Shannon
GU17 Gold – Grace Costello, Rebecca Bawden, Aoife NiEochaidh & Alannah Byrne
BU17 Gold – Patrick Doyle, Josh Hewlett, Nick Walkden & Aaron Browne
Mixed U18 Silver – Josh Hewlett, Elaine Browne, Nick Walkden & Josh Hewlett
Well done to all the other USAC athletes who competed on the day.
