Well done to our U17 Girls team of Alannah, Becca, Grace and Grainne who along with Máiread and Sonia from Adamstown, won the County Bronze medal at the the National B Cross Country Championship today at the WIT Arena in Waterford. These girls have all trained hard this year and a National bronze medal is no more than they deserve.
A number of our other athletes also has some great performances today, with Sean “The Rocket” Lennon putting in a blistering run in the U11 boys to finish 13th, just one place outside of an individual medal position. The Rockets grit and determination was matched by his team mates in the U11 boys, with Ronan, Sam and Luca all having great runs, with the club team just finishing outside of the medals.
Kelly and Isabel both had solid runs in the girls U13, with Isabel running out of age.
The club was well represented in the U13 boys with Owen, Cosmo, Ben, Caolan, Bobby, Oisín and Séan putting in great runs, with quick times over a tough and hilly 1500m course.
Our U15 girls team all finished very strongly up the field, despite three of the girls running out of age, well done to Erinn, Clodagh, Louise, Ellie and Áoife, with some brilliant individual performances.
Many of our juvenile athletes toughed the cold weather conditions to stay on and cheer our Senior Men who competed in the Masters. Well done to John, Alan, Pat, Ted, Matt & Gavin who all went well over a challenging 7k course, and won a fantastic national Bronze medal in the club event.
