Leinster Indoor Juvenile Championship, Abbotstown, 25-Feb-2017

The Juvenile Striders were in action at the new National Indoor Arena at Abbotstown on Sunday. We had multiple relay teams and a number of individual athletes performing in their track and field events. The girls were outstanding in their field events, with Aoife Muldoon winning Gold in the Triple Jump and Ciara Kelly winning Silver in her High Jump. Both girls were a shade off their PB’s, but this was a great start to the season for both. Aedan Rogers looked very strong in finishing 4th place in his 1500M event, which qualifies for the National Indoor Championships. Continue reading

All Ireland Juvenile B Championships, Waterford, 12-Feb-2017

Well done to our U17 Girls team of Alannah, Becca, Grace and Grainne who along with Mรกiread and Sonia from Adamstown, won the County Bronze medal at the the National B Cross Country Championship today at the WIT Arena in Waterford. These girls have all trained hard this year and a National bronze medal is no more than they deserve.

A number of our other athletes also has some great performances today, with Sean “The Rocket” Lennon putting in a blistering run in the U11 boys to finish 13th, just one place outside of an individual medal position. The Rockets grit and determination was matched by his team mates in the U11 boys, with Ronan, Sam and Luca all having great runs, with the club team just finishing outside of the medals. Leinster Indoor Juvenile Championship, Athlone, 11-Feb-2017 / 12-Feb-2017

The Juvenile Striders were on top form in Athlone, putting in some great performances, many PB’s and a handful of medals, for good measure. The U14 boys nearly brought the roof off the stadium, with all three, Aidan Shannon, Darragh Flannelly and Owen Lennon, qualifying for the final. In a thriller of a race Aidan set a blistering pace early on, with Owen and Darragh motoring along in behind. Making it a Wexford one-two, Aidan crossed the line ahead of Conor Doyle, in a very exciting finish. Darragh and Owen were just outside the medals and ran PB’s in a super race for the Striders and Wexford. Building on her excellent performances last summer, Eve Byrne continues to improve and won a brilliant Silver in the 1Km walking event. Continue reading

Well they went and did it again! With the combination of the amazing trio of John McGrath, Alan O’Connor and Ted Flannelly making a huge team effort together to the front of the pack, along with Pat O’Callaghan also battling away they brought home the Gold Masters County Team medal! Huge efforts also from John Kent, Emmett Malone and Gavin Kelly.

With a repeat run of their Senior race they finished together, with John claiming an impressive individual Silver, Alan Bronze, Ted 4th but won the Over 50 category. Fantastic to watch.

Aedan Rogers also battled away in the rain and muck of Lingstown to claim Silver in the Junior Men, which is run with the mens race. Impressive running along side the Senior men.
Elaina Browne claimed Gold in the Junior Women, which is run with the womens race. Another great opportunity. We’re super proud Elaina.
